To see in Rio

Some of my recommendations for things to see in Rio:

Botafogo bay during sunrise
Ipanema (Arpoador Stone) during sunset
Floresta da Ijuca
Bar do Adão, Botafogo – the best Pastéis in Rio, try the strawberries and chocolate
Plano B, Lapa – every Friday and Saturday night there is live music at this tiny record store. This is one of the few places where you can see International bands and artists perform
Prainha beach
Christ the Redeemer
Sugarloaf mountain
Bike ride along Ipanema and Copacabana beach before crossing the lagoon and making a visit to the Botanical Gardens – a perfect day out
Aterro do Flamenco
Maracana Stadium – going to see one of the Rio derbies at the Maracana is a must. The most hyped is the Fla-Flu derby between Flamengo and Fluminense, which is regarded as the big derby in Rio. However, many people now claim that Vasco v Flamengo has now overtaken it in terms of importance. Also worth going to see is Botafogo against any one of Vasco, Fluminense or Flamengo
